If you're new to my favorite era of Bionicle, like some people surely are, then you might want to catch up on it. Storyline wise, this period's a bit shorter, due to no MNOLG/serials, and it being only two years long. However, there still is some stuff you can do to catch up quickly. Here's a recommended reading list to get through quickly.
Bionicle 2: Legends of Metru Nui - It sums up 2004 in less than an hour and a half, however it's rather hard to find now.
Bionicle 3: Web of Shadows - It sums up 2005 in about the same amount of time, although there's more miscellaneous story missed in this, so your 2005 coverage should be fuller. It's rather hard to find now, though.
Bionicle Adventures 1: Mystery of Metru Nui and Adventures 2: Trial by Fire - They flesh out what's otherwise 10 minutes of LoMN, and provide an interesting backstory to the Toa Metru.
Adventures 7: Web of the Visorak - Starts off 2005 and explains how the Metru became the Hordika, as well as giving all the Rahaga dialogue.
Adventures 10: Time Trap - Wraps up a loose end or two from Metru Nui, as well as being considered one of the best of the Bionicle novels.
assets.lego.com/downloads/bionicle/comics/pdfs/BIONICLEComic_Issue25.pdf Comic 25 - Birth of the Rahaga - This gives Rahaga backstory.
BIONICLE: Metru Nui - City of Legends - More info on Metru Nui, but there are a bunch of factual errors.
There's still a bunch more things, more novels, another guidebook, more comics, but this is the barebones way to catch up on Metru Nui.
Now this is still a work in progress, so feel free to offer criticism.
