Hello everyone! With 2009 finally here, I find it appropriate to start reviewing some of the new sets. And today I begin with the amazing Glatorian, Vorox. Now I recieved this set from Meijer, at a price of $13. And one other thing, is I am experimenting with a new photo studio, so tell me how you like it. I pan to do all of the 09 sets, so keep watch!

As always, the instructions are great. I love the "drawing" look to the Vorox in the book. Much better than the ones from 2004.
Parts
New parts:
Vorox comes with a large amount of new parts. From his head to his mask, the life counter, hands, armor, and more! Let's take a look, shall we?
Armor:
I am really happy lego is making new armor. First with Gali Mistika, now Vorox and Skrall. And this armor is no excpetion. It is AWESOME. I really like it. Firstly, it has a unique shape that we have never seen before, and it is nice and smooth. It also is TAN AND BROWN. Two of the best Bionicle colors are being used here. I love it. As you can see, their is quite a bit of brown on the bottom. It also has two pin holes as opposed to only 1, and also has a plus rod out of the bottom.
Mask and Head:
By now everyone knows about the iron man heads. They come in three colors, trans light blue, trans lime, and trans orange. I am really pissed at lego for giving us so much trans orange I must say ! But I do love that they are smaller than the other heads. The helmet is one of the best I have seen. And it is finally, SMALL. Yes. No longer do we have outragously oversized metru heads, but now we have a beautiful helmet, with a great head, and size. Finally.
Hands:
The next biggest change is the hands. Why people don't like these, I have no clue. They finally make the Bionicle sets look normal,a nd humanlike. They also look great when holding a weapon. And good news! They can't hold takanuva staff or Bordahk staff anymore! I must admit, the thumb in the middle looks pretty crappy. Maybe lego will improve this in the future.
Thornax and Life Counter:
I think for the first time I LIKE a collectable. It's small, and looks great. And it fires quite well. The tornax is a squishy rubber, like the polyps and shadow leeches. The black bado around it, and in it, is plastic. Oh, and the life counter sucks. It just does. I do aplaud lego for targeting the kiddies, but what about us Tfols and Afols?
Recolors:
One VERY cool thing about this set is the recolors. It has tons of them. Solid colored piraka feet were a much wanted thing, and I like them. I would have liked to see the brown in them however. The metru chest and legs could be useful for making a more tan+brown colored toa onewa metru. The av-matoran limb is nice, and the mata foot is lovely. I think I might add these to Pohuatu nuva instead of his brown feet.
Build
Toroso:
As you can see, this set suffers from the same problem as Matoro Mahri, the red brick. It is very annoying, and I am going to swap it for a black one very quickly. Another problem is that he follows the path of Pohuatu and Lewa Mistika, and Gorast, mainly the backwards torso. But for some reason, it looks right on Vorox. I think it's becuase it makes him look a bit bulkier, as well as his new armor. On his back, he has a tan mata foot, which is not used to hold his head like Matoro. Instead, it holds on his tail. This is a good thing, because it is more complete than the bare back we got on Gorast.
Legs:
Okay, I'll admit, I'm a sucker for metru legs and piraka feet. I think it looks great. And with the addition of the armor, it looks wonderful. Now, I am going to explain why the blue triple long pic is used here. If you try it with a normal, smaller one, it will fall of much easier, and thusly they used the blue picn. However, I think they could have just put two black pins, the smaller ones, as it would have been much better, and worked all the same. Unless of course, this is part of an unknown combiner. I doubt it's worth it though, as the cobiners are never any good.
Added:
Added. His legs look great with his torso.
Arms:
His arms are mostly the same as his legs. It was terrible on Antroz, but it works well with Vorox.
Added(yes, I know I didn't crop this picture very well. I was tired. )
Helmet:
As you can see, the bottom part is left uncovered, resulting in a very cool look.
Life Counter:
Like Skrall, He has the life counter on his foot. I think it looks fine, and bulks him up a bit, so I will leave it there.
Finished Product:(in natural daylight)
(mind the gaps, I haven't gotten more paper yet)
As you can see, Vorox is a very nice set when finished. He can make some great poses, thanks to the neck, hands, and new armor.
